Claire initially qualified as a Civil Engineer in 2001 and worked in consultancy for 2 years before realising that healthcare was where her true calling lay. Claire pursued her studies in Physiotherapy and graduated from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (2006), with an Honours degree.
Claire went on to work with COPE Foundation, a charity organisation specialising in the care of adults and children with learning and physical disabilities. Over a five year period (2006-2011), Claire gained experience in treating and managing complex neurological, orthopaedic and respiratory conditions.
Claire is our resident expert in the area of Paediatric Physiotherapy. Claire is experienced in treating and managing congenital hip disorders, scoliosis, toe walking, gross motor impairments and developmental delay. Claire has solid knowledge of Neuro-Developmental Therapy, Sensory Integration and hydrotherapy treatment concepts having completed post-graduate courses in these areas.
Claire joined Berwick Physiotherapy in 2011 where she has continued her interest in Paediatrics, regularly treats babies as young as 10 days old, as well as children of all ages. Claire treats conditions at the clinic including orthopaedic problems and fractures, Cervical Torticollis, Positional Tallipes Equinus, Plagiocephaly and Brachycephaly (Flat Head Syndrome), as well as assessing and treating children with developmental delay, cerebral palsy, and genetic conditions. Claire has maintained her skills and knowledge of this specialist area through attendance at lectures and courses. In a short period of time, Claire has also developed a close working relationship with local Maternal Child Health nurses and Paediatricians.
Claire also has a good background in musculoskeletal physiotherapy having completed an outpatient orthopaedic/musculoskeletal rotation in Cork University hospital (2007), and worked in private practices on a sessional basis for over 2 years prior to moving to Melbourne. Claire has also maintained her skills in this area by completing manual therapy courses.
